Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing quality systems across injection molding, machining, and extrusion operations. This role focuses on inspection effectiveness, defect prevention, root cause analysis, corrective action, and risk-based quality planning in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer requirements. The Quality Engineer works cross-functionally while leveraging SAP, High QA, QT9, and similar systems to drive data-driven quality performance.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Lead and support QMS processes including Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), MRB, CAPA, and Document Control
Apply and support inspection planning, execution, and interpretation, including review of inspection results against drawings, specifications, and acceptance criteria
Review, approve, and maintain AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI)
Apply risk-based thinking, including FMEA development and maintenance, to manufacturing and quality processes
Perform structured root cause analysis and corrective action using 8D, 5 Why, and systemic CAPA methodologies
Utilize SAP, High QA, QT9, or similar platforms for quality event tracking, CAPA management, and reporting
Support process control, validation, and inspection strategy for injection molding, machining, and extrusion
Participate in internal audits, customer audits, certification audits, and supplier quality activities
Review supplier and customer documentation for compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to drive continuous improvement and defect reduction
Support customer quality activities, including complaints, escapes, and corrective actions
Promote a strong culture of quality, inspection discipline, and risk awareness
Qualifications & Experience
U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR/EAR-controlled technical data
3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001
Demonstrated understanding of:
Inspection processes and result interpretation
CAPA (full lifecycle effectiveness verification)
AS9102 First Article Inspection
Proficiency with SAP, High QA, QT9, or similar QMS/ERP platforms
Strong understanding of GD&T and inspection methodologies
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred
ASQ CQE in lieu of a college degree is acceptable
Work Environment
Manufacturing floor and inspection areas
Monday – Friday, standard business hours
High interaction with production teams
